2021 National Team Information

Out of an abundance of caution and to minimize the costs for the trip as much as possible, IL/USAW will assemble the national team as follows:

Girls:

  • There are no limitations on the number of female participants we are allowed to bring.

Boys:

  • Top 8 at the 2021 U15, UWW Cadet, or UWW Junior National Championships.
  • Top 4 at any 2021 USA Wrestling Regional Championships.
  • Wrestlers who do not meet the above criteria shall be allowed to submit a petition for a spot on the national team (Please note: USA Wrestling is allowing each State to bring 6 wrestlers per weight class per style in each age group. The top 8 and top 4 listed above do not count against our 6 wrestlers per weight class.).

Fee: $400 will provide the following:

  1. Tournament entry fee(s).
  2. Uniform package including singlets.
  3. IL/USAW national team coaching staff.
  4. Certified athletic trainer during the tournaments.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, we are unable to provide the traditional training camp like we've had in the past. However; we are in the process of organizing regional training sites. Information will be posted on this website when the sites have been finalized.

Wrestlers and their parents are responsible for transportation to and from Fargo and housing (hotel) while in Fargo.

All petitioners and qualifiers who wish to represent Illinois must complete the form below to start the process.

  • Wrestlers have until 11:59 pm, May 24, 2021 to complete the form.
  • Wrestlers will be notified by June 1, 2021 of their acceptance or denial.
  • Accepted wrestlers must pay their $400 fee on or before June 15, 2021.

Please Note: Wrestlers must adhere to any COVID-19 guidelines USA Wrestling has for the 2021 USA Junior and 16U National Championships.

National Team petitioning has closed. Any U15, UWW, or USAW Regional Championship qualifier who hasn't completed the qualifier information should send an email to request consideration to be a member of the 2021 National Team.

Petitioners will be considered but not limited to the following criteria:

  1. ** Returning USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman All-Americans.
  2. ** Returning UWW Freestyle or Greco-Roman All-Americans (2020 and before).
  3. Returning IHSA State Place Winners.
  4. ** Returning IL/USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman National Team Members.
  5. ** Returning IL/USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman National Dual Team Members.
  6. 2021 USAW National Recruiting Showcase Tournament Qualifiers and All-Americans.
  7. Returning USAW Pre-Season Nationals or Folkstyle Nationals All-Americans.
  8. Returning IKWF or IESA State Place Winners.
  9. IL/USAW Director's Committee.
