2023 National Team Information

Updated for the 2023 US Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals

Girls:

Please Note: Qualification is age group specific (USA Junior or 16U).

  • Place 1st through 3rd at the Girls Freestyle State Championships. *
  • Place 1st at the Second Chance Nationa Team Qualifier. *
  • Current year 1st-6th Place at any USA Wrestling Regional Championships. **
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U15 Nationals. **
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U17 Nationals.**
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U20 Nationals. **
  • Previous year 1st-8th Place at Junior Nationals. **
  • Previous year 1st-8th Place at 16U Nationals. **
  • Previous year age-level World Team member. **

Boys:

Please Note: Qualification is style specific (Greco-Roman or Freestyle).

  • Place 1st through 3rd at the State Championships. *
  • Place 1st at the Second Chance National Team Qualifier. *
  • Current year 1st-6th Place at USA Wrestling Regionals (placement must be in the same age and style). **
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U15 Nationals (placement must be in the same style). **
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U17 Nationals (placement must be in the same style). **
  • Current year 1st-8th Place at U20 Nationals (placement must be in the same style). **
  • Previous year 1st-8th Place at Junior Nationals (placement must be in the same style). **
  • Previous year 1st-8th Place at 16U Nationals (placement must be in the same style). **
  • Previous year age-level World Team member (must be in the same style). **

* - These events are also weight class specific. We are allowed 4 spots per weight class.
** - Qualifying through these events allows wrestlers to choose their weight class for the USA Junior and 16U National Championships.

Fees

Girls

$1,100 for the USA Junior or 16U tournament.
Wrestlers cannot compete in both tournaments as they run at the same time.

Boys

$1,100 for the Freestyle or Greco-Roman tournament.
$1,300 for the Freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments.


Fees stated above cover:
  1. Training Camp (mandatory for Illinois National Team Members).
  2. Room and Board at Training Camp.
  3. Travel to and from Fargo via chartered bus.
  4. Lodging in Fargo during the tournaments.
  5. $20 per day from IL/USAW for meals during the tournament(s).
  6. Tournament entry fee(s).
  7. * Uniform package including singlets.
  8. IL/USAW national team coaching staff.
  9. Certified Athletic Trainer during the tournaments.

* Wrestlers who compete with the National Dual Teams do not get a second set of singlets.

Wrestlers who have not qualified for the Nationals and wish to represent Illinois must complete the form below to start the process.

Wrestlers have until June 9, 2023 to complete the form.

Petitioners will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • ** Returning USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman All-Americans (Fargo only).
  • ** Participation during the 2023 spring FS/GR season (In-state USAW, USAW Regional, and USAW National events)
  • ** Returning IL/USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman National Team Members.
  • ** Returning IL/USAW Freestyle or Greco-Roman National Dual Team Members.
  • ** = In-style requests take precedence

Petitioners, both approved and denied, will be notified via email during the week starting June 12, 2023.
